Erich Schiffmann

According to Erich Schiffmann, “Yoga is a way of moving into stillness in order to experience the truth of who you are.  The practice of yoga is a practice of meditation—or inner listening—in the poses and meditations, as well as all day long.  It’s a matter of listening inwardly for guidance all the time, and then daring enough and trusting enough to do as you are prompted to do.”

Erich has been teaching yoga throughout the world for more than twenty years.  He established his practice through study with Krishnamurti at Brockwood in England, with Desikachar in Madras, India, and with Iyengar in Poona, India.  In 1994, Erich produced the award-winning video, Yoga, Mind & Body, with the actress Ali MacGraw, and in 1996 he published the best-selling book Yoga: The Spirit and Practice of Moving into Stillness.  He has also produced the Backyard Series, a popular set of instructional yoga DVDs .
